Gardening has always been about leaving the earth better than we found it. We nurture the soil, plant for future generations, and care deeply about what we leave behind. Yet when I went searching for a pair of eco-friendly garden gloves, I discovered that many products marketed as "green" were anything but. Most still relied on plastics, unnecessary synthetics, or highly toxic chemical processing that didn't align with the values so many gardeners share.
I knew there had to be a better way.
I'm Sarah Riley, founder of Riley & Sons. For more than 18 years, I've built products behind the scenes for some of the world's largest retailers and global brands, leading product development, merchandising, sourcing, and supply chain initiatives from concept through production. Throughout my career, I've learned that great products don't happen by accident- they are the result of thoughtful design, high quality materials, trusted manufacturing partners, and an unwavering attention to detail.
Gardening has been a lifelong passion for me. Inspired by my grandparents and parents, it’s a generational hobby that I share now with my own young family.
Those two worlds eventually came together.
I founded Riley & Sons with one simple belief: gardeners deserve products that perform beautifully without asking them to compromise their values. Every decision we make starts with that idea- from carefully sourcing certified natural materials to rigorous third-party testing, a tailored fit, and complete transparency about what goes into every product we create.
My love of gardening began long before Riley & Sons. My grandparents taught me that a garden wasn't simply something you maintained- it was a family bond, a way to build community, and to nurture the land itself. Their beloved irises still bloom in my own garden each spring, reminding me why this work matters.
Riley & Sons exists to create thoughtfully designed garden essentials that are as hardworking as the people who use them- and as kind to the earth as the gardens they help grow.
Thank you for being here and for helping us grow something better!
